Most of us like approval & validation from others. That’s fine. It is when we NEED approval from others that this becomes problematic. It is a problem as we make other people’s opinions more important than our own. There is no benefit to us trying to please everyone, as this is impossible. Why not please one person all the time? You!
These EFT set-up statements will start you off in a more healthy direction:
| ‘Even though I trust other’s opinions over my own, I deeply & completely love & accept myself. I choose to ask myself next time, as I know me best’
‘Even though I am easily manipulated by others when I allow them to decide what I should wear, feel, think & act I deeply & completely love & accept myself. I choose to be responsible for me instead of being at the whim of other people’s approval’
‘Even though I feel threatened if someone disagrees with me, I deeply & completely love & accept myself. I choose to accept everyone has different opinions & no one is right or wrong including me’
‘Even though I ask countless questions of others to seek their permission, I deeply & completely love & accept myself. I choose to increase my self confindence by trusting in my own ability to take charge’ |

Worrying about anything does not help who or what you are worrying about. It doesn’t make things any better. Wayne Dyer defines worry as “being immobilized in the present as a result of things that are going or not going to happen in the future“.
So why do we worry so much? Perhaps if we worry ‘enough’ about something at least we’re seen as being concerned or caring. Worry is an excuse to stop us taking action. I think many of us hide behind worry. Ironically what we’re worrying about we usually have no control over!
Do you recognise yourself in any of the following?
|
‘Even though I was brought up to believe that worrying about (my children/ the economy/ my health/ paying the bills/ death) is necessay & I wouldn’t be a caring person if I didn’t worry, I deeply & completely love & accept myself. I choose to confine my worries to just 3 minutes a day’
‘Even though I am choosing to waste time worrying in the present moment rather than taking productive action, I deeply & completely love & accept myself. I choose to be aware of my procrastination & do something constructive now’
‘Even though my worry gets me attention from others & I enjoy the pity, I deeply & completely love & accept myself. I choose instead to do something & risk being actively involved in my life’
