The Loneliness
BackNext

Loneliness is another key trigger to smoking. People light up when they feel alone or are bored. Smoking becomes an adult 'comfort blanket', something to hold on to when there is nothing else to do, or to help you feel secure.

Logically, how this could ever help is always a dubious question, yet millions of people seem to think it does. Let us remove this crazy logic, along with a couple of other similar ideas.

'Even though I feel lonely deep inside and need to smoke, I deeply and completely accept myself'

'Even though I don't know what to do if I don't smoke, I still love and accept myself'

'Even though I smoke to fill my loneliness and boredom, I still love and respect myself'

'Even though I would not know what to do with my hands if I did not smoke, I accept myself for who I am and choose to find something more constructive to do with my time'
