Part 2 of 7 – Clearing the fear

Why do we have fear? The reason is fear keeps us safe. Yet it is also fear that can prevent us from doing almost anything. Fear easily becomes wrongly associated to situations and events, and often remains associated even after it has finished serving its purpose. For example if you where humiliated in front of your class by your teacher when you where 6 you may develop a fear of being wrong, singing or public speaking, depending on the reason for the humiliation. As a human being our need to fit into a group is paramount. It was, in mans early history, fundamental to our survival. However this is no longer as essential as it once was.

 


Very obvious fears. It is possible to be humiliated within a group and let that experience go. If your goal is to become a public speaker, or even advance within the company you work for, it may be necessary to clear your fears around talking in front of groups. You may also need to clear a fear of dogs if you wish to become a vet. These are all quite ‘obvious’ fears, however they still need addressing. List now any fears you have related to any of your goals. Now use EFT to clear them.

Now let’s look at less obvious fears, such as the fear of failure. Fear of failure is very common. The irony is the only way you can fail is by not trying or by giving up too quickly. There is a saying, "If it is worth succeeding at it is worth failing at many times first", or as the Japanese proverb says "Failure is the mother of success". This means there is no such thing as failing. Failing can be seen as part of the learning curve. Make the decision today to try something new, and be prepared to fail!

Where have these subtle fears come from? They may have developed because of punishment given when we made a mistake or because of conditioned beliefs (such as successful people are show offs etc). Once again go through your life and identify any such limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Clear these with EFT. If you find this difficult, the help of a skilled therapist can guide you through a series of questions that can help identify your own personal issues. If this is not possible try talking to a friend about your family, and in particular any limitations your parents had. You may uncover the core to your own blocks.

Another way to uncover your fears is to find one of your goals, then go and experience it. For example if one of your goals is to buy a new house, then go looking and visit some dream homes. If your goal is to buy a new car then go and test drive your dream car. By testing yourself in these new environments it will push you to experience some fear, or uncover some limiting beliefs. Take one or two of your goals from yesterdays lesson and go try them out.

As you experience your goals see if there is any internal objection, physical tension or fear that arises. If so write them down and work through them using EFT. Do this for anything that arises before you go, while you are there and after you have finished. Each step will bring its own insight, emotions and objections. If you are unable to even test your dream without these occurring then chances are you won’t manifest your dream until you have cleared them.

1) Contemplate the quote of the day. Try to integrate its wisdom into every thing you do throughout the day.
2) Spend between 5-10 minutes tapping on the EFT setup statement. Create reminder phrases that best suit your own words and feelings around this.
3) Repeat the affirmation at least 28 times, more often if possible. You may like to tap whilst doing this as any internal objections to the affirmation will be cleared with EFT.
4) List any ‘obvious’ fears you have in accomplishing your goals. Clear them with EFT.
5) List
any ’subtle’ fears you may have. Talk with a friend or therapist if needed, then clear them with EFT.
6) Choose 2 or 3 goals from your list and test them out. Note any internal resistance as you do and clear it with EFT.
